HISTORY OF THE SONG
‘THE SAME’
I lost my sweet mum to the cold hands of death on the 6th of March, 2001. Just after her demise, my dad drove us home after depositing her body at the morgue.
On reaching home, I asked my siblings to get into my room for worship and prayers. The song we sang during that very painful moment was, “Jesus, I love calling your name’ by Shirley Caesar.
Ever since then, this has been our best song as family.
Sixteen years later,(2017), the Holy Spirit dropped the tone and lyrics of this song, ‘THE SAME’ in my heart while I was having my shower one Saturday morning. I handed the song down to my choristers for practise and we kept doing it as a theme song in our local church. After some years, the Spirit of God, through so many ministers and friends asked me to go to the studio and .make the song go global. I struggled with this for long until this year, 2023. Today, we are grateful to God for everything. I also appreciate my producer, Awesome G. for a job well done. I call him my ‘boss’.
I believe this song will make Jesus more real to you. He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever more.

Eric Bello-Asemota hails from Oredo Local Government of Edo State, South-South Nigeria. He was born into a Christian home and has served God in various capacities all his life. He gave his life to Christ at age 12.
Educationally, he has a degree in Biochemistry; he is also a graduate member of Nigeria Institute of Management. He has a Post Graduate Diploma degree in Theology and a Post Graduate degree in Public Health (I.V). Currently,
