Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ
I’d like to share this song with you “Gonna leave this world behind” and the testimonial lesson.
The testimonial began a few weeks back when I woke up singing the lyrics, but I was not able to finish writing the song, and each time I would sit down to try and write the lyrics and put chords to the tune, it would go nowhere. After a few weeks of regularly trying to finish this song, I sat down to try and allow the Lord to help me write the song and add the chords and I believe the words came to me, “the reason you can’t complete this song is that your thinking isn’t right”.
I realised that my thinking wasn’t correct and that the purpose of the song is firstly about strengthening my relationship with the Lord and then what comes of this song outside of that other than encouraging others, isn’t my motivation (nor my business).
I then had a week of encouragement whereby I believed I received from the Lord advice on how to focus on the right way of thinking and not be worldly (or thinking of the flesh). Then the following week, one afternoon I was led to sit down and the Lord worked with me on finishing the lyrics, and the tune and what chords to use. I believe the Lord then worked with me on the recording, with the music & the video clip.
So I hope you enjoy the song “Gonna leave this world behind” and to better understand what I was shown, I have provided scriptural references that are relevant to the lesson I experienced. As you can see they are based upon the biblical process for us in following our Lord, and to change from thinking worldly (spiritually immature/childish) and start thinking heavenly (spiritually mature/adult), to allow us to draw closer in our thinking to the Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, to have peace with God in our thoughts and to come away from the world and avoid thinking and behaving like a worldly person and start being a follower of Jesus Christ in our thoughts, as well in our live.

Matthew 3:7-8 (the message to change our thinking and behaviour)
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sad′ducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bear fruit that befits repentance, (the word repentance comes from the greek word- metanoia means “to change one’s mind / way of thinking” as our thinking changes so does our behaviour, what the Heavenly Father and the Lord are requiring is that we learn to think as they require and so our behaviour will also change, it’s a nature process.
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 (what are we if we don’t change our thinking)
1 But I, brethren, could not address you as spiritual men, but as men of the flesh (worldly), as babes (infants) in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food; for you were not ready for it; and even yet you are not ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh (worldly). For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh (worldly), and behaving like ordinary men (men of this world)?
James 4:1-3 (wrong thinking and priorities causes great trouble)
1 What causes wars, and what causes fightings among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members? 2 You desire (have strong thinking upon wrong things) and do not have; so you kill. And you covet (strongly desire what others have) and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions (on your fleshly/worldly desires and ambitions).
Colossians 3:1-4 (How to change our thinking)
1 If then you have been raised with (baptised into) Christ, seek (set your minds on) the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds (think) on things that are above (heavenly/spiritual), not on things that are on earth (worldly / of the flesh). 3 For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Romans 8:5-8 (What the right or wrong thinking produces)
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds (think) on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds (think) on the things of the Spirit. 6 To set the mind (think) on the flesh is death, but to set the mind (think) on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set (thinking) on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, indeed it cannot; 8 and those who are (thinking & behaving) in the flesh cannot please God.
1 Corinthians 13:11 (the process to grow spiritually to maturity in Christ)
When I was a child (spiritually immature), I spoke like a child (spiritually immature), I thought like a child (spiritually immature), I reasoned like a child (spiritually immature); when I became a man (spiritually mature), I gave up (put away) childish (spiritually immature / worldly) ways.
Philippians 4:5-9 (How to think as we are instructed, and the benefit it brings)
5 Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. 6 Have no anxiety (worries) about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (constant prayer will help calm and stabilise your thinking, your mind)
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you. (as we are directed, by thinking on these things, helps restore, settle and focus your minds on the ways of God)
Matthew 19:21-30 (having our priorities right with the Lord / putting the love of God first in our lives, so the things of this world don’t control our thinking)
21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. 23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said in reply, “Lo, we have left everything and followed you. What then shall we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 But many that are first will be last, and the last first.
